The idea for Approaching Paradise came from a lecture in which the audience was asked “what are three things between you and Paradise?” This led me to wonder how different people define paradise? Can we have multiple paradises? What would be my paradise(s)? What would be other people’s?
For the Women in Motion, this performance is not only informed by those personal paradises, but how we turn ideas into gestures, gestures into phrases, and phrases into dance. Dancers include Greta Anderson, Carol Barrick, Susan Gant, Sue Griffith, Deb Kline, Greta Levis, Pam McColley, Laura Merrick. Virgina Molgaard, Amy Murphy, Lonna Nachtigal, Hiromi Okumra, Sarah Ryan, Natalia Stoupakova, KellyMarie Ziemann, and Suzanne Zilber.
